Job summary

The Bernon Family Branch of the Hockomock Area YMCA in Franklin, MA is hiring Youth Sports Instructors to deliver sports programs in an enthusiastic and effective manner to participants of all ability levels, including teaching sports classes and coaching leagues. Base pay is $15.00 - $16.00 per hour.

This position supports participants as they learn teamwork and sportsmanship while building confidence and improving skills in the programming.

Qualifications

• Applicant must be at least 15 years old.
• Counselor, coaching and/or instructor experience preferred.
• If under 16, must play competitive sports and have prior knowledge of the sport.
• Only instruct youth participants ages 10 and younger when paired with staff 18+.

• Joins and demonstrates sports curriculum and activities.
• Sets up and breaks down program areas before and after classes.
• Communicates clearly with families and children.
• Builds positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
• Knowledge of programming and rules, as needed for officiating purposes.
• Communicate instructions and rules in an energetic and clear manner.
• Oversee the safety of all children during programs.
• Reinforces teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill building.

This position supports all participants as they continue to learn the aspects of teamwork and sportsmanship while building confidence and improving skills and knowledge of particular programming.

Requirements

• At least 15 years of age

  • Run a class with another staff member who is 18 years or older
