Job summary

YMCA of Akron is seeking a part-time Youth Sports Instructor to support Youth Sports Programs. You will assist with instructing and teaching children, ensuring safety, maintaining records, and promoting the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Faith.

The position requires a minimum age of 15, completion of mandatory abuse prevention training within 90 days, and reliable, professional conduct. Location: 350 E Wilbeth Rd, Akron, OH 44301.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 15
• Child abuse prevention training within 90 days of hire date
• Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness
• Experience working with children preferred
• Must maintain professional appearance, strong communication, organization and administrative skills
• Must believe in YMCA's philosophy and mission and willing to teach, model and implement character development values

Responsibilities

• Assist with instructing and teaching youth programs
• Comply with all guidelines and requirements
• Have complete knowledge of emergency procedures appropriate for the site to ensure the safety of the children and record as required
• May be responsible for monitoring childcare payments, attendance records, and sign in/out sheets
• Develop and maintain relationships with school district administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs
• Must provide updated registration information to Program Director
• Ensure quality control standards and participants safety
• Treat all children, parents and staff with dignity and respect
• Interact with the children and provide positive role model during all activities
• Be dependable, punctual and organized
• Be responsible for the appearance and cleanliness of the learning environment of the site
• Attend all staff meetings, training sessions, workshops and conferences as requested or required
• Understand the need for and play an active role in the Annual Campaign & UW Campaigns
• Take the initiative to do what needs to be done
• Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance
• All other duties as assigned
