Job summary

The Somerset Hills YMCA is seeking part-time Sports Instructors to lead multi-sports classes for children, teens and adults at our Somerset County, NJ locations. You will design engaging curriculum for Basketball, Soccer, Floor Hockey, and more, while promoting safety, teamwork and healthy living.

Applicants must have coaching or teaching experience, be at least 17, be CPR/First Aid/AED certified, and comfortable working evenings and weekend sessions.

Qualifications

• Must have experience coaching a sport or teaching Physical Education.
• Must have experience working with children as young as pre-school up to older teens.
• Must be at least 17 years of age.
• Should be comfortable with all areas of sports programming including skill development, safety, fair play, sportsmanship, and fun.
• Must demonstrate and explain sports skills to multiple age groups / ability levels and be inclusive.
• Must be alert to safety concerns and prevent issues as they arise.
• Need CPR, First Aid, and AED certification prior to starting.

• Provide quality programming for youth and adults across multiple sports.
• Create and execute lesson plans that meet age and ability levels.
• Foster inclusive, safe, and fun learning environments.
• Communicate progress and needs to participants and parents.
