Job summary

Goodwill Hawaii seeks a Youth Specialist to guide youth participants and families in academic, vocational, and life skills. You will develop and monitor Individual Service Plans, track progress, and maintain compliant documentation while connecting families to community resources.

You will work with at-risk youth, provide mentorship, job readiness training, and applied learning opportunities, and coordinate learning environments aligned with participant goals, reporting to program leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university (required for Big Island youth programs only).
  • One to two years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth in a human service setting.
  • Proficiency in assessments, goal planning, customer service, and conflict resolution.

  • Evaluate participants’ strengths, interests, and needs to develop individualized service plans.

  • Facilitate community-based activities and skill-building excursions.

  • Occasionally provide transportation to participants.
  • Follow all organizational policies, safety procedures, and compliance requirements.

SUMMARY

AYouth Specialistprovides academic, vocational, and life skills guidance to youth participants and their families within a positive youth development setting. TheYouth Specialistdevelops andmonitorsIndividual Service Plans, tracks client progress toward goals, andmaintainsaccuratedocumentation in compliance with policies and procedures. Additionally, theYouth Specialistconnects youth and families toappropriate communityresources and delivers follow-up servicesin accordance withcontract guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university (required for Big Island youth programs only).
  • One to two years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth in a human service setting.
  • Proficiencyin assessments, goal planning, customer service, and conflict resolution.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable traffic abstract per company guidelines.
  • Access to an insured vehicle with current registration and safety inspection.
  • Successful clearance of Sex Offender Registry, Criminal History, and Adult/Child Protective Services background checksin accordance withcompany standards.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must meet physical demands necessary to perform essential job functions; reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, and communicate (talk/hear).
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
