Job summary

The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Phoenix invites applications for an On-Call Sports Instructor I. You will teach beginners and intermediate learners in sports, maintain safety, and provide coaching guidance with enthusiasm.

You are expected to communicate clearly with groups, mentor youth, and follow program policies. CPR/First Aid is preferred, and a background check will be conducted to ensure a safe environment for all participants.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• One year of sport or coaching experience.
• Must relate well with people with a friendly, customer-service demeanor.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Meet health department and Salvation Army health & safety regulations.
• Capable of handling physical activity and safety during sports programs.
• Demonstrated ability to work with children, parents, and staff.
• Dependability and ability to engage youth in sports.
• Ability to maintain a safe, fun learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Teach beginners and intermediate learners in assigned sport.
• Communicate with groups of people with poise and enthusiasm.
• Provide development guidelines following coaches' handbook.
• Attend coaches meetings and trainings.
• Critique and give feedback to participants on performance.
• Create, teach, and demonstrate activities with facilities to supervisors.
• Generate incident reports and notify supervisors of accidents or unsafe conditions.
• Display integrity and positive moral judgment.
• Follow Salvation Army policies and protect mission guidelines.
• Maintain professionalism with children, parents, customers, staff, and management.
