Job summary

The Salvation Army's Kroc Center in Phoenix seeks a Part‑Time Fitness Instructor I to lead group fitness classes for members and guests of various ages and abilities. You will teach class technique, safety cues, and health tips while upholding center rules.

You should design safe, effective workouts, monitor safety, and assist with program information. Prior group fitness teaching and current certifications are preferred; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Design high-quality, up-to-date, safe Group Fitness Classes for diverse student levels.
  • Uphold the scope and practice of fitness professionals.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and staff.
  • Demonstrate positive team leadership and supervision skills.
  • Relate positively and energetically with coworkers and participants.
  • Be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Thrive in a team‑oriented environment and be a team player.
  • Able to instruct with proficiency and manage various groups.

Responsibilities

  • Create safe and appropriate exercise classes for members and guests.
  • Set proper exercise mode, duration, frequency, intensity, and progression for each class.
  • Monitor clients during sessions to ensure safety.
  • Ensure safe and proper use of all exercise equipment.
  • Return equipment to storage after use.
  • Demonstrate correct exercise technique with mirrored movements.
  • Provide cues for moves and hydration reminders.
  • Participate in Kroc Fitness Center Member Retention program.
  • Answer basic facility questions and assist members as needed.
  • Arrive on time and ready for each class.
  • Refer questions or concerns to the Fitness Manager.
  • Monitor areas for safety and report issues promptly.
