Job summary

Heluna Health's Contra Costa Youth Continuum of Services (CCYCS) seeks a Shelter Specialist to supervise a 15-bed shelter and a 13-bed transitional housing program for adults aged 18-24. The role focuses on ensuring safe housing, meals, and supportive services while enforcing program rules.

You will provide individual counseling, crisis intervention, intake assessments, and documentation. The position requires strong communication and the ability to respond calmly to emergencies, including

Qualifications

• Knowledge of homelessness, mental health, substance abuse, HIV and diversity.
• 1 year experience with youth or homeless youth preferred.
• Strong communication, independence, and teamwork.
• Must pass criminal and fingerprint background check.
• Bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise youth in an emergency shelter and transitional living programs.
• Provide wake-up calls, meals, and enforce curfew and quiet hours.
• Facilitate on-site recreational groups and one-on-one counseling.
• Intake to assess housing needs and benefits services.
• Document case records and incident reports.
• Handle emergency incidents including medical or mental health events.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming facility and stock supplies.
• Coordinate with staff and on-call management during evenings/weekends.
• Attend mandatory trainings and perform other duties as required.
