Job summary

State of Missouri, Division of Youth Services, seeks a part-time Social Services Aide/Community Mentor to work with youth in day treatment and residential programs. You will support staff in creating a therapeutic and safe environment, requiring empathy, professionalism, and clear communication.

Responsibilities include transporting youth in a state vehicle, building constructive relationships, tutoring, helping youth secure employment, and coordinating with supervisors.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Prior experience with juveniles or college coursework in social science or criminal justice is desirable.
• Strong communication with clients and families is essential.

Responsibilities

• Transport youth (and possibly family) to school, job, doctor appointments, meetings, etc. in a state vehicle.
• Spend time with youth to develop constructive relationships and provide structure and guidance.
• Provide tutoring or academic assistance with schoolwork or homework.
• Assist clients in securing employment and developing community resources.
• Meet regularly with supervisor and maintain client contact logs.
• Maintain professional boundaries with clients and monitor attendance at school, work and meetings.
