Job summary

The Pascagoula Public Library seeks a dynamic Youth Services Library Assistant to lead programs for preschoolers through teens, develop story times, and create engaging displays that bring the library to life.

You will help build a strong children’s and teen collection, assist patrons with resources, manage the Summer Library Program, and collaborate with schools and community groups to promote literacy.

Qualifications

• One-year public library experience or one-year working with youth.
• Knowledge of contemporary and classic children's and young adult literature.
• Ability to follow policies and procedures.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Staff the Youth Services desk and respond to in-house inquiries from patrons of all ages.
• Assist Youth Services patrons in using library resources and services.
• Maintain the Youth Services collection and create attractive displays.
• Develop and present weekly programs for preschoolers and other ages within YS.
• Plan and execute the Summer Library Program under supervision.
