Job summary

Northeast Kingdom Human Services is seeking staff for the Children’s Mental Health Program in St. Johnsbury, VT.

The role focuses on providing one-to-one support to children with emotional challenges under a case manager and with family involvement, creating a nurturing, structured setting for growth. Responsibilities include responding to behavioral issues with positive strategies, maintaining reliable scheduling, transporting with a safe vehicle, and documenting activities per NKHS guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Experience one-on-one with children with emotional/behavioral challenges preferred.
• Ability to work independently while following established plans and guidance.
• Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and automobile liability insurance ($100,000/$300,000).

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support to children, under guidance of a case manager and with families.
• Create a safe, structured environment that supports emotional growth and social skills.
• Respond to behavioral and emotional challenges with positive approaches.
• Maintain consistent scheduling whenever possible.
• Provide transportation using a safe, insured personal vehicle.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and other providers.
• Complete required documentation per state, federal, and NKHS guidelines.
