Job summary

YBGR is seeking a Therapeutic Youth Mentor (TYM) to support youth in Montana, building resilience and healthy coping skills. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver compassionate, individualized care and help youth achieve treatment goals.

The role emphasizes creating positive relationships, maintaining accurate documentation, and participating in ongoing training. Flexible hours may be required to serve diverse settings and community activities.

• Build rapport and engage therapeutically with youth.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain trusting, professional relationships with youth receiving mental health services.
• Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating healthy choices, appropriate boundaries, and effective coping strategies.
• Support youth in achieving treatment plan goals as outlined by therapists and the treatment team.
• Facilitate engaging skill-building activities focused on communication, problem-solving, emotional regulation, and daily living skills.
• Accompany youth in community settings to promote socialization, independence, and positive peer interactions.
• Provide crisis support and de-escalation when needed, following YBGR protocols.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), in compliance with agency standards.
• Collaborate with therapists, case managers, families, and community partners to ensure coordinated care.
• Actively contribute to organizational goals, including Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) initiatives.
• Model YBGR’s mission, values, and professional standards in all interactions.
• Adhere to agency policies, safety procedures, and compliance requirements.
• Take initiative in identifying challenges and seeking effective solutions.
• Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and ongoing training.
• Remain aware of and responsive to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the youth and families served.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
