Job summary

Native American Rehabilitation Assoc. of the NW is seeking a Residential Assistant to support youth at a treatment center in Gresham, OR. The role involves supervising youth, documenting daily activities, and applying trauma-informed care in a structured living environment.

Shifts include Swing (3:30PM–11:30PM) or Graveyard (11:30PM–7:30AM) with weekends required. Driving is required and a valid license is necessary.

Qualifications

• Driving is a requirement for this position.
• Current, active driver's license
• Current, active auto insurance
• Over the age of 23 (per our insurance policy)
• Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries with youth clients and staff members
• Demonstrated ability to treat youth clients and staff with respect and dignity
• Pre-employment or for cause drug tests - including marijuana
• Criminal background and DMV checks
• CPR, CPI, and Food Handlers cards are required within 30 days of hire
• Experience in substance use/abuse treatment with youth (preferred)
• Understanding of 12-step philosophy and youth treatment modalities (preferred)
• Addiction Counseling certificate or knowledge a plus (preferred)
• Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision to youth throughout daily treatment activities.
• Build positive, professional relationships with residents while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
• Conduct routine safety checks.
• Administer medications as authorized and maintain accurate MARs.
• Utilize trauma-informed approaches to support youth emotional, behavioral, and recovery needs.
• Foster a safe, respectful, and structured environment.
• Support youth engagement in treatment goals, recovery activities, and daily routines.
• Supervise and assist with chores, personal responsibility tasks, and community living expectations.
• Complete required documentation, including daily logs, incident reports, medication records, and resident updates.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming living environment.
• Transport youth to appointments, activities, school, or other approved destinations as needed.

Position Overview

Residential Assistants (RA’s) are responsible for attending to all youth-related needs during their scheduled work shift. This includes monitoring youth during their daily living activities and completing all relevant documentation, using trauma informed care to provide a safe environment for healing and recovery.
