Job summary

Native American Rehabilitation Assoc. of the NW is seeking a reliable Youth Transportation Driver to safely transport youth ages 12-18 to medical, legal, behavioral health, educational, and community appointments across the Portland metro area.

The role requires a valid driver's license, clean driving record, auto insurance, and CPR certification or ability to obtain it. You will manage daily transportation schedules, maintain vehicle documentation, and ensure fleets are clean and safe.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Good driving record.
  • Active auto insurance.
  • Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Ability to carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening.
  • Ability to pass criminal background and DMV checks.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport youth clients to appointments or activities.
  • Provide transportation for events and cultural activities, including occasional transportation outside of standard business hours.
  • Maintain professional, supportive interactions with youth and families.
  • Coordinate daily transportation schedules and calendars.
  • Utilize phone, Microsoft Teams, and other communication tools to stay informed of schedule changes.
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities and transportation requests throughout the day.
  • Conduct weekly vehicle inspections, including checking oil and fluid levels, tire pressure and condition, lights and vehicle safety features.
  • Perform minor vehicle maintenance such as replacing light bulbs or fuses.
  • Maintain vehicle mileage logs, transportation records, and fleet documentation.
  • Utilize fleet management software (Fleetio) to support vehicle tracking and maintenance.
  • Clean and sanitize transport vehicles daily following organizational health and safety standards.
  • Assist with other program needs when transportation duties are limited.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as assigned.

Position Overview

The Driver/Transporter plays a vital role in supporting our youth by ensuring they arrive safely to appointments, maintaining transportation schedules, managing vehicle documentation, and helping ensure NARA's transport vehicles remain safe, clean, and operational. No two days are exactly alike, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, working with youth, and being part of a collaborative care team.

What you will do
