Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) is hiring for a Recreation Specialist at the Earle C. Clements Job Corps Center in Morganfield, KY.

You will monitor, plan, and direct center-sponsored recreational activities for students, on- and off-site, using creative and engaging programming. The role requires at least one year of recreation experience, a high school diploma, excellent communication, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year recreation experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Report to the recreation manager or designated supervisor.
• Oversee operations of the student union snack bar.
• Monitor and direct students in center‑sponsored recreational activities on- and off-center in compliance with government and management directives.
• Assist the manager, recreation in planning, implementing and coordinating a comprehensive and diversified program which will attract voluntary participation.
• Organize and supervise student participation in a variety of recreation activities.
• Conduct and coordinate recreation activities.
• Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps' Zero Tolerance Policy.
• Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
• Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.
• Cultivate and maintain a climate on center which is free of harassment, intimidation and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
