Job summary

The Child Center of NY in Queens, NY, is seeking an Activity Specialist to design and facilitate project-based learning experiences across Flushing, Bayside, Whitestone, and College Point locations. You will collaborate with site leadership to develop quality youth activities and coordinate events that showcase talents and learning outcomes.

Ideal candidates have 2 years of experience with youth, strong supervisory skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

  • 2 years’ experience working with children and/or youth in your specialization.
  • Exemplary supervisory skills at elementary level (middle school or high school aged youth).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently.
  • Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with site leadership in planning, development and execution of quality, project-based youth development activities.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with participants, families & school faculty.
  • Coordinate events & functions in specialty area such as showcases, exhibits, productions, culminating events.
  • Engage participants in specialty area activities; provide support through encouragement and resources.
  • Prepare related paperwork, materials and implementation supplies; timely submit program and certification documents.
