Job summary

The City of Weslaco is seeking a Library Clerk to help organize shelves, assist patrons, run youth programs, maintain displays, and support Summer Reading Program activities. You will also handle fines and answer questions for library patrons.

The role requires a HS diploma, 1 year related experience, a valid TX driver’s license, background check, and energy to work nights/weekends. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1 year related work experience preferred.
• Background check and drug screen required.
• Valid Texas Class C driver’s license and insurability.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain regular and prompt attendance; be present at work.
• Perform after-hours work as required (nights and weekends).
• Assist with emergency response as needed by city hall/EOC.
• Support Summer Reading Program activities (SRP).
• Decorate and maintain library space, especially SRP season.
• Assist patrons with questions and directions.
• File applications and process payments for fines/fees.
• Assist with monthly reports.
• Help with Theater Complex programming and maintenance.
• Keep library area clean and organized.
