Job summary

The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division is seeking a Community Center Aide to support educational, recreational, and developmental programs at the Decatur Corps. You will assist with day camp activities, supervise youth volunteers, and help with meals and field trips.

Reporting to the Community Center & Athletics Director, the role requires at least 18 years old, a high school diploma or equivalent, and strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent; experience considered in lieu of a degree.
• Age: must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience: youth programming and STEAM preferred; ability to work with adults and youth.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning day camp activities and field trips.
• Supervise youth volunteers and guide tasks and interactions.
• Chaperone field trips/outings.
• Participate in activities with youth inside and outside.
• Assist with meals and snacks.
• Keep records for statistics and licensing procedures.
• Drive official vehicles for programming.
• Attend staff meetings.
• Assist in organizing events and performances.
• Sign children in and out for the day.
• Maintain cleanliness of spaces; coordinate with staff/volunteers.
• Communicate concerns to supervisors; adhere to Safe from Harm policies.
