Job summary

City of Williamsburg, Virginia seeks a Youth Development Advocate to assist with the after-school program for middle school youth. The role involves facilitating structured activities, mentoring with goal-setting, and connecting youth to services and resources.

Flexibility includes Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm, with additional mentoring hours potentially available. The position is hourly and funded contingent on program priorities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience/training in youth or family service programs.
  • Acceptable criminal history, DMV background checks, CPS background checks, and drug screen.
  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate structured programming, activities, and field trips that promote academic success and essential life skills.
  • Emphasize values such as respect, responsibility, and positive role modeling in all interactions.
  • Provide individualized mentoring, including goal-setting and connecting youth to services and resources.
  • Support after-school program for middle school youth and coordinate scheduling.
