Job summary

Boys & Girls Club Of the Northern Plains is seeking a Lead Youth Development Professional to create, lead, and evaluate daily youth programming in Yankton, SD. This role supervises youth and supports Junior staff through coaching and guidance to ensure a safe, positive Club environment.

The position focuses on developing youth through activities that build confidence, teamwork, and leadership, while upholding the Club's Five Key Elements for Positive Youth Development and safety policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Valid CPR certification or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment; training provided in-house if not certified.
• Commitment to four days a week.
• Ability to create a class schedule for the upcoming semester and meet scheduling needs for the Club.
• Must be available to work during summer and school-year operating hours.
• Ability to apply behavior management principles per Club values and training.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, implementation, and evaluation of daily programs and events.
• Encourage member engagement and healthy peer relationships.
• Supervise youth and uphold safety standards and policies.
• Ensure program spaces are clean, welcoming, and safe for all members.
• Support youth with behavioral challenges using club-approved strategies.
• Provide real-time and follow-up feedback to Youth Development Professionals and volunteers.
• Model professionalism and Club values in all interactions.
• Maintain open communication with supervisors and staff as needed.
• Facilitate activities that build confidence, leadership, and teamwork.
• Promote fair play, respect, and positive decision-making in activities.
• Complete attendance, incident reports, assessments, and behavior notes.
