Job summary

Greater Peoria Family YMCA seeks a Youth Program Assistant to provide leadership at program sites and foster environments that promote confidence, respect, and cross-cultural understanding among youth. The role supports before/after school and School's Out programs across multiple school sites.

You will implement lesson plans, ensure safety, maintain clean facilities, and assist in activities that develop participants' skills while communicating effectively with families and staff.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or be in progress.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to relate to children, parents, and school staff.
• Strong language skills and public speaking ability.
• CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Greater Peoria Family YMCA and its values to participants and families.
• Create a variety of experiences that allow children to express creativity and imagination.
• Develop activities that are fun, therapeutic, educational, and build skills.
• Carry out lesson plans.
• Maintain a friendly attitude toward children and staff and keep control of groups.
• Report accidents, injuries, or discipline incidents in writing.
