Job summary

Playworks is hiring a full-time Youth Program Coach to work at two San Francisco elementary schools, leading games, supporting positive behavior, and creating a fun recess environment. This is a hands-on, outdoor role that builds teamwork, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.

The position runs from November 2026 to June 2027 with potential for return next year, and offers a comprehensive benefits package including health and retirement options and paid school-break vacation.

Qualifications

• Experience working with youth is a plus.
• Candidates must pass a National Sex Offender Public Registry, State criminal check, and FBI background check.
• CPR/First Aid certification upon hire (offered by Playworks).
• Reliable transportation to assigned school(s).

Responsibilities

• Recess: organize and lead games to create a positive experience for all students.
• Class Game Time: teach a variety of games to promote activity, cooperation, and fair play.
• Junior Coach Leadership Program: train 4th- and 5th-graders to become coaches and assist in managing games.
• Maintain communication with Playworks staff, school staff, teachers, and families; organize paperwork; attend trainings.
