Job summary

Native American Community in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a Substance Use Prevention Youth Organizer. This full-time role builds a base of young people and community members to shape substance use prevention within the community.

The Organizer develops youth leaders, supports a Youth Advisory Council, and advances culturally grounded prevention programming through the Communities That Care coalition, while coordinating with elders, families, and partner organizations.

Qualifications

• Experience in community organizing and engagement, youth programming, and/or program coordination.
• Ability to initiate conversations with people you do not already know, and to sustain relationships over time.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse community partners, including elders and youth.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, including comfort with contact tracking and follow-through.
• Experience coordinating meetings, events, or community-based initiatives.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as community schedules require.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop leaders; move people from contact to commitment to leadership.
• Build a Youth Advisory Council and support youth leadership development.
• Reach out to youth, families, elders, and community members; map networks and relationships.
• Coordinate the CTC coalition; define roles, meetings, and shared goals.
• Support culturally grounded prevention programming and youth-driven materials.
