Job summary

Native American Community Clinic seeks a Substance Use Prevention Youth Organizer to build youth leadership and coalitions for culturally grounded prevention. Youth-led programming, outreach, and partnership work are essential, with evening and weekend availability to fit community schedules.

Qualifications

• Experience in community organizing and engagement, youth programming, and/or program coordination.
• Ability to initiate conversations with people you do not already know, and to sustain relationships over time.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse community partners, including elders and youth.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, including comfort with contact tracking and follow-through.
• Experience coordinating meetings, events, or community-based initiatives.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as community schedules require

Responsibilities

• Conduct one-to-one conversations with youth, families, elders, and community members as the primary method of identifying interests and potential leaders.
• Build and maintain a contact list and relational map of the community.
• Carry out sustained outreach through phone and text banking and in-person canvassing at community sites.
• Set and track engagement goals for meetings and events, adjusting strategy based on results.
• Recruit, convene, and support a Youth Advisory Council.
• Develop youth along a ladder of engagement and support youth leadership.
• Build toward youth running their own meetings and prioritize community-driven activities.
• Support development of culturally appropriate youth consent and participation processes.
• Maintain relationships with elders, tribal leaders, schools, and partners.
• Coordinate communication among staff, coalition members, and partners.
• Support grant reporting requirements.
