Job summary

WestCare Foundation seeks a Prevention Specialist to deliver education and counseling in schools, universities, and community settings in the Miami area. The role includes conducting universal to indicated prevention services, client referrals, and youth engagement under HIPAA and confidentiality standards.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, two years of social services experience, and CPR/First Aid with TB testing.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in social services preferred
• Bilingual preferred
• CPR and First Aid certifications and annual TB test
• Must have reliable transportation
• Familiarity with Miami-Dade County
• Pre-employment Drug Testing and Criminal Records Checks required
• Vaccination requirements may apply as mandated by local/funding entities
• Knowledge of HIPAA, ethics, confidentiality and consumer rights

Responsibilities

• Identify target populations and locations with service gaps
• Provide community education on substances, HIV/AIDS, and STDs
• Recruit consumers for prevention programs (Alcohol Literacy Challenge, PRIME for Life, Teen Intervene)
• Deliver prevention services using prescribed curricula
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly reports
• Maintain consumer records per regulations and policy
• Participate in case conferences and mandated trainings
• Engage in performance improvement activities
• Coordinate with program leadership to deliver services securely
