Job summary

HeartShare St. Vincent's Services (HSVS) is seeking a part-time Performing Arts Youth Engagement Specialist to design and lead trauma-informed arts programming for youth in NYC foster care and child welfare programs across HSVS sites.

You will facilitate theater, movement, voice, storytelling, and devised performances to support emotional regulation, identity formation, and positive engagement. The role emphasizes cultural responsiveness, safety, and collaboration with HSVS teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience with youth in community-based, residential, or child welfare settings.
• Experience in performing arts instruction or facilitation (theater, movement, voice, spoken word).
• Familiarity with trauma-informed care, youth development, or restorative practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and facilitate weekly performing arts workshops for HSVS foster care programs.
• Deliver structured instruction in theater, movement, voice, spoken word, and devised performance.
• Create safe, trauma-informed spaces that support engagement and emotion expression.
• Adapt activities to meet diverse developmental, emotional, and behavioral needs.
