Job description

Youth-Nex (the Center to Promote Effective Youth Development) at the University of Virginia is seeking applicants for a part-time research work position. The Research Specialist (Wage) will undertake research-related tasks, including:

1. Assisting with data cleaning and codebook development
2. Supporting supervisor with tracking data collection
3. Piloting new materials
4. Screening classroom videos
5. Attending virtual team meetings
6. Performing other administrative tasks as assigned

This position may involve work across multiple projects and labs at Youth-Nex, such as the PIT-CREW lab, Remaking Middle School, and the READY lab. The hours will vary between 5-10 hours per week, depending on project needs.

Requirements include:

• Some college coursework or experience
• High attention to detail
• Basic troubleshooting skills with personal technology used for research
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to work independently
• Effective collaboration with diverse populations
• Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal)
• Self-starter with team working ability

Preference will be given to candidates with coursework or experience in education or social science research, especially familiarity with Youth-Nex projects.

Compensation: $16.00 per hour
