Youth-Nex (the Center to Promote Effective Youth Development) at the University of Virginia seeks applicants for a part-time research work position. The Research Specialist (Wage) will perform research-related tasks, including but not limited to: data cleaning, codebook development, tracking data collection, piloting new materials, screening classroom videos, attending virtual team meetings, and other administrative tasks as assigned.
This role may involve work across multiple projects and labs at Youth-Nex, including the PIT-CREW lab, Remaking Middle School, and READY lab. Hours will vary depending on research needs, typically between 5-10 hours per week, with weekly hours fluctuating based on project schedules.
Preference will be given to candidates with coursework or experience in education or social science research and familiarity with Youth-Nex projects.
Anticipated hourly wage: $16.00. This position is a wage role, not eligible for benefits, limited to 1500 hours annually. For more details, see UVA Wage Policy.

Minimum: Some college coursework or experience. No prior experience required. No licensure needed.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in education or social sciences aligned with Youth-Nex projects. No additional experience or licensure required.
This is primarily a sedentary role involving computer use. Occasional travel to meetings and programs may be required.
