Youth Ministry Director: Lead, Shepherd & Grow Students

Job summary

The Summit Church in North Carolina seeks a Student Director to lead the middle and high school ministry on our campus, building a caring team of volunteers, overseeing weekly programs, and guiding families in discipleship.

You will collaborate with the central Next Gen team, contextualize resources, and plan events like camps and retreats while engaging the local community through outreach.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a student ministry (multi-site setting preferred).
• Proven ability to teach the Bible clearly and engagingly to both middle and high school students.
• Demonstrated track record of recruiting, training, and retaining volunteer leaders.
• Experience building relationships with students and their families that lead to spiritual growth.
• Shepherds students by building intentional relationships, counseling them through real-life issues, and connecting them to small groups and next steps.
• Strong organizational and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Proficiency with standard computer software and church management systems (e.g., Rock, Planning Center).
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Seminary or theological training preferred, or a willingness to pursue it.
• A passion for student ministry, a teachable spirit, and a willingness to receive feedback and learn.

Responsibilities

• Know and shepherd students and parents at the campus.
• Oversee the student ministry team at the campus.
• Recruiting, mobilizing, equipping, and developing leaders.
• Supervises and develops volunteers by setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, and raising up new leaders.
• Resources and partners with parents by communicating clearly and consistently, and equipping them to disciple their kids at home.
• Engaging in the community to open doors for evangelism and outreach.
• Contextualizing and executing Student Ministry programs and events at the campus (small groups, large group, etc.).
• Stays informed on cultural trends, issues, and pressures affecting today’s students.
• Staying up to date and maintaining all Student Ministry programs, systems, policies, and procedures.
• Assistance in the contextualization and execution of Student Ministry ministry events at the all-church level (camps, retreats, etc.) when available.
• Providing ongoing feedback and evaluation of central resourcing when available.
• Misc. tasks as assigned by Campus Pastor or Central Next Gen Team.
• Churchwide events participation (e.g., Easter, Good Friday, Christmas) as needed.
