Job summary

Buford First UMC in Gwinnett County, GA is seeking a part-time Director of Student Ministries for students who are 6th through 12th grade. The role includes leading weekly activities such as Sunday night youth worship and Sunday school, and partnering with local ministries and outreaches.

The ideal candidate is fun, motivated, energetic, organized and a team player, with the ability to recruit and train families and a knowledge of youth education within a UMC context, under the Lead Pastor

Qualifications

• Experience in church/youth ministry preferred.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; Understanding of UMC theology and doctrine.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and direct Student Ministry of Buford First UMC.
• Recruit and train adult volunteers to serve with and lead students.
• Attend weekly staff meetings.
• Be present and available during Sunday School and Morning Worship Services.
• Coordinate and oversee Sunday, Wednesday, and other programming including age-appropriate curriculum selection and class/age grouping in collaboration with a Lead Pastor and Parent Committee.
• Communicate the needs of the student program to other staff and church leaders as appropriate.
• Coordinate and oversee the planning and implementation of all annual retreats in the fall and spring. Engage youth in a summer mission opportunity.
• Work with Music Minister to support Youth Choir and Youth Choir Tour events.
• Work with Children's Director to collaborate with during combined church events.
• Additional duties may be assigned from time to time by direct supervisor or BFUMC Board.
