Job description

Job Purpose

The Youth Minister is responsible for teaching, nurturing and encouraging the faith formation of youth in grades 6th through 12th. The purpose of this role is to lead the development and execution of a ministry focused on Christian growth, discipleship, fellowship and shepherding of youth and their families.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop & nurture relationships with the youth, children & families of TBC.
• Plan and lead activities to promote community among students (i.e. retreats, mission opportunities, Sunday School, outings, VBS, etc.).
• Invest in the lives of the TBC youth outside of church (i.e. sporting events, concerts, etc.) to build and strengthen relationships with TBC families.
• Work with Church leaders in planning and leading during Sunday morning worship, special services and family ministry events.
• Seek out ways to connect our youth with worship participation.
• Supervise the upkeep of the youth room & equipment.
• Provide pastoral care to youth and their families as needed.
• Create a welcoming environment in which youth can grow in their faith.
• Stay up to date with current youth ministry trends, social issues, resources and opportunities.
• Seek out training and personal growth opportunities.
• Provide goals to the Personnel committee every year.
• Must have organizational skills, high emotional intelligence and practice servant leadership.

Qualifications

Education & Experience: College Degree in related field or pursuing degree. Must have some experience working with youth & children, teaching and developing programs, or mentoring youth in related programs either in a Church setting, community service setting or educational setting.

Other

Must have a vital personal relationship with Christ as evidenced by continued spiritual growth, personal and ethical integrity. Must have a calling to the pastoral ministry with a strong desire to serve youth and families. Must have a desire to relate well to all age groups within the Church.
