Job summary

Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic childcare professional for the 2026-2027 school year. The role offers $16.50-$17.50 per hour and rewards like free YMCA membership and flexible schedules.

Responsibilities include planning age-appropriate curricula, observing child development, and communicating with families with care and confidentiality. Applicants should hold a degree in education or human services and have at least 2 years of verifiable childcare experience.

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited college or university in an education or human services related field.
• 2+ years verified child care experience (2500 hours).
• Passionate about working with children in a fun, diverse environment.
• Ability to pass all relevant clearances and keep trainings up to date.

Responsibilities

• Finding new and engaging ways to help kids learn, while building self esteem.
• Implement and plan curriculum with child-centered, developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
• Conduct weekly observations and address behavior concerns with parents/guardians.
• Communicate with parents/guardians clearly and confidentially about progress.
• Maintain attendance records, emergency binders, and allergy reports on time.
• Ensure centers have organized learning materials in labeled containers.
• Attend team-planning meetings monthly or more as needed.
• Actively campaign for the Annual Campaign and develop donors/volunteers.

What Is Needed For This Job

• Achievement of a degree from an accredited college or university in an education or human services related field

The responsibilities we will trust you with:

• Finding new and engaging ways to help kids learn, while maintaining control of environments that build children’s self esteem
• Implement and plan curriculum for program; ensuring child centered and developmentally appropriate learning experiences throughout classrooms using positive reinforcement for behavioral management
• Conduct and record weekly child observations as well as any related to child behavior concerns or development that may require early intervention with parents/guardians
• Being patient and kind with our parents/guardians, communicating effectively and in a timely manner regarding children’s program experience, progress (written as well as verbal) while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity
• Accurately maintain daily attendance records, emergency contact binders, and allergy reports, as well as compliant paperwork within timesheets, incident reports, weekly reports, and child observation reports
• Ensure centers are maintained with quality learning materials, organized accordingly in labeled containers associated with appropriate learning center
• Attend team-planning meetings monthly or more as needed
• Actively campaign for the Annual Campaign an work to develop donors and volunteers
