Job summary

Burrell Behavioral Health in Independence, MO is seeking a Youth Community Support Specialist. This full-time role provides community-based mental health services to children, teens, and adults, developing personalized treatment plans and coordinating care with families and professionals.

The position emphasizes evidence-based practices (MI, CBT/DBT) and requires collaboration across teams to support client wellbeing and independence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or other human services field.
• Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field with two years of related work experience.
• Any four-year combination of higher education and two years of related work experience.
• Associate’s of Applied Science in Behavioral Health Support.
• Four years of qualifying experience delivering services to individuals with mental health or substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

• Provide community-based mental health services including assessment and treatment planning.
• Collaborate with clients, families, and stakeholders to implement individualized plans.
• Use strengths-based approach with evidence-based practices (e.g., MI, CBT/DBT).
• Coordinate care with primary care physicians and community organizations.
• Maintain accurate client records and progress notes.
• Participate in staff development to enhance youth mental health knowledge.
• Work with team to coordinate care effectively.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the client’s care.
• Prepare for and facilitate PSR group sessions.
