Job summary

BCFS in Texas is seeking a Youth Empowerment Specialist to recruit, retain, and guide youth ages 6-17 as part of the Youth Advisory Committee, delivering leadership and life skills curricula and supporting partners.

The role requires an Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s preferred), 2 years’ youth experience, and the ability to work evenings/weekends, with attention to inclusive practices and program data. Strong communication in English and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team are essential.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree is required.
  • Preferred Bachelor’s in social work, psychology, education, or related human services field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with youth aged 6–17.
  • Experience coordinating youth advisory committees and youth leadership programs is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and retain youth for the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC).
  • Coordinate YAC meetings and develop agendas.
  • Integrate YAC feedback into program design and QA.
  • Serve as YAC liaison during CYD Youth Summit planning.
  • Facilitate leadership curriculum for YAC and Youth Leadership D participants.
  • Complete intake assessments and pre/post tests.
  • Coach and support YAC and YLD social justice projects.
  • Train in and facilitate other curricula (violence prevention, independent living, substance use).
  • Ensure a welcoming, inclusive environment.
  • Assist with needs assessment and data collection.
