Job summary

The City of Temple is seeking a Youth Leader to guide Afterschool participants under supervision of a Recreation Specialist or Senior Youth Leader. This seasonal position requires flexibility to work weekends and holidays and assist in other divisions as needed.

You will supervise children ages 5-13, deliver engaging activities, and help with meals, daily tasks, and record-keeping while maintaining safety and program standards.

Qualifications

• Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to obtain CPR/First Aid within 90 days.
• Food handler license or ability to obtain within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Supervise campers and participants aged 5-13 in indoor and outdoor settings.
• Ensure safety and well-being of participants during activities.
• Plan and implement engaging recreation, adventure, education, and enrichment activities.
• Serve meals and snacks as needed for participants.
• Perform daily operational tasks such as cleaning, filing, and answering phones.
• Maintain and prepare reports on participation, usage, accidents, and work orders.
• Follow city policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

Summary

Youth Leader, under the supervision of a Recreation Specialist or Sr Youth Leader, will lead and supervise Afterschool participants, and other various recreational activities. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Ensures the safety and well-being of campers and program participants
• Supervises children aged 5-13 in various indoor and outdoor settings, adapting to different weather conditions
• Implements engaging lesson plans in recreation, adventure, education, and enrichment
• Serves meals and snacks to program participants as needed
• Performs daily operational tasks, including cleaning, filing, sorting, answering phones, and copying
• Maintains essential records and prepares necessary reports, such as participation, usage, accident, and work order reports
• Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Completion of two (2) years of high school.

Preferred Qualifications

• One (1) year experience working in a related field
• Bilingual in English and Spanish

Certificates and Licenses

• Valid driver’s license
• CPR and First aid or able to attain within 90 days
• Food handler license or able to attain within 90 days
