Job summary

The YMCA of Columbus is seeking a Youth Karate Instructor to introduce children to karate fundamentals while promoting confidence, discipline, and growth in a safe, positive environment.

Responsibilities include planning and leading classes, teaching basic martial arts skills, maintaining a safe space, and encouraging focus and self-confidence. CPR/AED and First Aid certifications must be obtained within 60 days.

Qualifications

• Passionate belief in nurturing youth and healthy living.
• Ability to relate to diverse groups in the community.
• Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid must be obtained within 60 days.
• Must be at least 16 years old and have instructional experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead karate classes for youth participants.
• Teach foundational martial arts skills and proper forms.
• Maintain a safe, engaging class environment.
• Keep accurate class records (attendance and progress).
• Assist in supervision of volunteers involved in sport or activity.
