Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• 1-2+ years experience leading youth; karate or martial art background preferred.
• CPR/First Aid/AED cert within 90 days of hire.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; some evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead age-appropriate karate classes per YMCA standards.
• Teach fundamentals: stances, strikes, blocks, kata, self-control.
• Build confidence, discipline, respect, and focus in youth.
• Open/close class with YMCA pledge; ensure safety and risk-management.
• Set up, break down mats, and maintain equipment after class.
• Learn participants' names and foster relationships with families.
• Report attendance, incidents, and progress to supervisors.
• Attend bi-monthly staff meetings and assist with events.
