Job summary

The Council of State Governments Justice Center is seeking a Policy Manager to provide project leadership, subject-matter guidance, and technical assistance for youth justice and behavioral health initiatives. You will work with state and local partners, coordinate cross-system strategies, and advance policy improvements across jurisdictions.

Remote or hybrid work options are available, with Kansas proximity encouraged for on-site collaboration.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience and/or equivalent educational achievements.
• Ability to build and sustain new relationships, gain buy-in for new approaches, and champion system improvement across stakeholders.
• Experience creating briefs, webinars, and other resources that synthesize research, policy, and data.
• Experience providing technical assistance that includes identifying opportunities for system improvement and action planning.
• Ability to engage, lead, and manage project teams to deliver on goals.
• Ability to identify and leverage internal and external projects that advance priorities.
• Dedication to public service with civility and nonpartisanship.

Responsibilities

• Project Leadership & Execution: manage projects, timelines, deliverables, and staff coordination.
• Field Expertise & Technical Assistance: identify local contacts, conduct site calls, support data analysis and dashboards.
• Staff Supervision & Task Direction: provide direction to staff on project deliverables.
• External Engagement & Relationship Building: update funders, engage new contacts, and collaborate with partners.
• Cross-Team Coordination & Organizational Contribution: participate in PM processes and committees.
• Impact, Quality Assurance & Accountability: ensure accuracy, timelines, and funder requirements.
