Job summary

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County is seeking a Juvenile Justice Case Manager to support families whose youth are involved with the juvenile justice system. You will use a strengths-based approach to connect families with services, develop case plans, and help navigate courts and social programs.

Responsibilities include home and school visits, collaboration with families, court personnel and providers, and delivering evidence-based programs while recording data and reporting for court

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or a closely related field; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working knowledge of the juvenile justice system.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
• Knowledge of supervisory principles and court systems is preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Bilingual in Spanish is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Using a strengths-based model of community case management with families whose youth are in the juvenile justice system.
• Engages and assists families to navigate the juvenile justice and social services systems.
• Builds and sustains relationships with families and involves them in the juvenile justice process.
• Develops plans to reduce youths’ risk of future law violations.
• Visits families in homes, at school, and at community-based programs.
• Collaborates with families, court personnel, and service providers.
• Facilitates evidence-based programs addressing needs such as anger control and pro-social thinking.
• Assists in transporting family and youth to services.
• Enters information into state information systems and verifies accuracy.
• Prepares reports and attends court meetings and hearings.
