The Legal Aid Society is seeking an experienced Paralegal Client Advocate to support immigration matters for juvenile clients in NYC. You will work within an interdisciplinary team of lawyers, social workers, and support staff to represent children before family courts and in USCIS matters.

A minimum two-year commitment is required to attain partial accreditation as a BOA Representative and to practice before USCIS.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
• ABA-accredited paralegal certificate required.
• Experience advocating for low-income immigrants and children.
• Demonstrated advocacy and interviewing skills.
• Experience assisting people in crisis.

Responsabilidades

• Provide support in compiling immigration application packets and researching facts for asylum and other immigration relief.
• Assist with drafting affidavits and motions.
• Meet with clients, gather information from clients and agencies, and interview to develop fact patterns.
• Prepare immigration forms (I-360, I-765, I-485, I-918, I-589, etc.) and manage case files.
• Monitor and update case management databases and liaise with court officials and stakeholders.
• Support motion practice and ensure compliance with court orders.
