The Legal Aid Society, Inc. is seeking an experienced Paralegal Client Advocate for its Juvenile Rights Practice in New York.

The position supports immigration representation for children in NYC family court cases across multiple offices, including Queens and the 49 Thomas Street location. As part of an interdisciplinary team, the PCA will prepare and file immigration relief applications, gather country conditions, and assist with litigation tasks under attorney supervision.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree (strongly preferred) or paralegal certificate from ABA-accredited program.
• Experience advocating for low-income immigrants and children.
• Demonstrated advocacy and interviewing skills.
• Experience assisting people in crisis.

Responsabilidades

• Compile application packets and conduct factual and legal research for immigration matters.
• Draft affidavits and prepare motions.
• Interview clients, gather information, and liaise with agencies.
• Prepare immigration relief applications (I-360, I-765, I-485, I-589, etc).
• Maintain case management databases and track deadlines.
• Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team of lawyers and social workers.
• Support motion practice and monitor court orders.
