Job summary

The Legal Aid Society seeks an experienced Paralegal Client Advocate in the Juvenile Rights Practice. You will support immigration matters for children in NYC family courts, working with lawyers, social workers, and other staff.

Based across multiple locations, including Queens and the 49 Thomas Street office, the PCA helps prepare petitions (I-360, I-765, I-485, etc.), conducts client interviews, and contributes to a coordinated defense for youths aged 0 to 21.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (strongly preferred).
• Paralegal certificate from ABA-accredited program.
• Experience advocating for immigrants and children.

Responsibilities

• Compile immigration application packets and conduct factual/legal research.
• Draft affidavits and prepare motions.
• Interview clients and gather information from families and agencies.
• Prepare forms for immigration relief (I-360, I-765, I-485, I-918, I-589, etc.).
• Maintain case management databases and liaise with court officials.
• Assist with motion practice and monitor court orders.
