Job summary

Greater Austin YMCA in Texas is seeking a Gymnastics Instructor to guide children ages 3–12 through gymnastics and dance-based movement. You will teach foundational body movement, coordination, and muscle development while maintaining a safe, supportive environment that encourages courage and self-expression.

You’ll plan engaging classes, adapt lessons to each age and skill level, prepare students for performances, and communicate with parents and the Program Director.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 16 years old.
• Dance and Gymnastics or cheer/tumbling background.
• Instructor experience preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certifications preferred or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging gymnastics classes for children ages 3–12, teaching age-appropriate skills and dance routines.
• Customize lessons to align with developmental stage and skill level of each age group.
• Create a positive, inclusive learning environment that builds confidence and teamwork.
• Promote safety by teaching proper techniques, warm-ups, spotting methods, and injury prevention.
• Prepare students for performances and community events, coordinating choreography and attire.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the practice area and equipment.
• Communicate progress with parents, guardians, and the Program Director.
