Job Purpose:- The Youth Enrichment Instructor at the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is responsible for planning, leading, and implementing programs and experiences for youth in a safe and welcoming environment. The role aims to foster the development of skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging among young participants, contributing to their overall growth and enrichment.Key Responsibilities:- Develop and deliver engaging and educational activities tailored to the needs and interests of youth participants.- Create a positive and inclusive environment that encourages youth to explore, learn, and grow.- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure the smooth operation of programs and activities.- Monitor and assess the progress and development of participants, providing guidance and support as needed.- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by adhering to established guidelines and protocols.- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding program goals, activities, and participant progress.- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to program activities and participant attendance.- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to youth enrichment.Required Education:- Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, or a related field.Required Experience:- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with youth in an educational or recreational setting.- Proven track record of developing and implementing youth programs that foster growth and development.- Experience in a leadership role, managing teams or volunteers in a youth-focused environment.Required Skills and Abilities:- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with youth, parents, and colleagues.- Demonstrated ability to create a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.- Proficiency in program planning and evaluation to ensure high-quality delivery of youth enrichment activities.- Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.- CPR and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
