Job summary

Covenant House California is seeking a Youth Engagement Specialist to join our compassionate, multidisciplinary team supporting youth ages 18-24 in crisis shelter and transitional living programs. You will supervise, triage, and engage with youth, uphold policy, document notes, and participate in group activities while modeling healthy boundaries.

Requirements include a high school diploma (or higher) and 1–2 years’ experience with youth; strong communication, organizational skills, and computer

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or higher; relevant life/work experience considered in lieu of diploma
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required
• Proficiency with basic computer applications (Word/Outlook/Excel) and ability to work in a team environment

Responsibilities

• Supervise shelter operations and ensure safety across facility areas
• Perform wellness checks and safety assessments of youth
• Provide crisis prevention and intervention per agency protocol
• Maintain shift notes, incident reports, and documentation in the ETO system
• Engage youth through activities, life skills coaching, and positive role modeling
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary team and participate in trainings and meetings
