Job summary
The Division of Youth Services within the State of Missouri seeks an Education Specialist to develop curriculum, plan lessons, and deliver instruction in day treatment and residential programs for youth. Candidates must hold an Education degree with a valid teaching certificate or a Bachelor's with the ability to obtain certification, plus a Special Education certificate.
A valid driver’s license is required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education with a valid teaching certificate.
- Alternatively, Bachelor's + ability to obtain teaching certificate via Missouri DESE.
- Must possess valid driver’s license.
- Master’s degree + 2+ years post-baccalaureate special education teaching experience with valid certificate.
- Four+ years post-baccalaureate special education teaching experience with valid certificate.
Responsibilities
- Implement group and individual education plans and plan class work.
- Confer with parents and/or students; work on IEPs.
- Adhere to State and Federal testing guidelines and mandates.
- Prepare reports regarding client adjustment and progress; maintain records.
- Administer and score pre/post tests.
- Provide Awareness Supervision for youth and safety.
- Maintain security and participate in physical restraints when needed.
- Dispense medications to youth.
- Role-model appropriate behaviors.
- Transport and escort youth in various situations.
