Job summary

Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a Youth Development Support Director to shape inclusive youth programming. The role blends strategy with hands‑on practice, half time with leadership collaboration and half time in the field with youth and families.

You will model effective support strategies, coach staff, and lead program improvements while ensuring access and inclusion for all participants across YMCA services.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Special Education, Education, or related field preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience required.
• Five+ years of experience supporting youth with disabilities or inclusive programs.
• Experience reviewing IEPs, Section 504 Plans, medical documentation, or related evaluations.
• Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, ADA, positive behavior supports, and child development.
• Experience coaching staff, leading change, and implementing practices that improve outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Partner with leadership to strengthen inclusive practices across child care, camp, and youth development programs.
• Develop accommodation and behavior support strategies for youth participation.
• Coach, train, and mentor staff through observations and modeling.
• Work with youth and families to assess needs and implement supports.
• Collaborate with Safety & Risk and operations to improve participant and staff success.
• Support accessibility initiatives by guiding accommodations and ADA best practices.
• Build partnerships with schools, therapists, and community agencies to expand resources for families.
• Maintain documentation and identify trends to inform policies and practices.

About the Role

We are looking for a Youth Development Support Director to help shape and strengthen inclusive youth programming across the YMCA. This is a hands‑on leadership role that combines strategy with direct practice—approximately half your time will be spent partnering with organizational leaders to improve programs, train staff, and implement best practices, while the other half will be spent in the field working directly with youth, families, and staff to model effective support strategies. • Collaborate with Safety & Risk and operational leadership to develop proactive strategies that improve participant and staff success
• Support Association accessibility initiatives by providing guidance on accommodations, inclusion, and ADA best practices
• Build partnerships with schools, therapists, and community agencies to expand resources available to YMCA families
• Maintain required documentation while identifying trends and recommending improvements to policies, procedures, and youth development practices
