Job summary

DC Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS) seeks a Supervisory Youth Development Representative for the Secured Programs Division. The role supervises Youth Development Representatives, ensures safety and humane treatment of youth in custody, and coordinates transport and program activities across facilities.

The incumbent develops schedules, coaches staff on de-escalation techniques, and maintains thorough incident reports.

Qualifications

• Experience working with juveniles in a detention center environment.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Specialized experience equivalent to at least one year in the next lower grade level.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead Youth Development Representatives in day-to-day activities.
• Develop and monitor the facility master schedule for YDR staff and ensure staffing for transports.
• Coach staff on de-escalation techniques and discipline in accordance with policies.
• Document incidents and submit detailed written reports in the department information system.
