Job summary

South Sound YMCA in Olympia, WA seeks a Site Director for the School Age Child Care program. You will supervise staff and volunteers, ensure a safe, compliant, and engaging program, and maintain strong relations with children, families, and school partners.

The role requires 21+ years old, DCYF training compliance, and a background check. You will handle attendance via Paycom and participate in required trainings to uphold licensing and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Be 21 years of age.
• Education: Completed 30 college credits in any one hundred-level or above college coursework.
• Submit your college transcripts to MERIT for evaluation.
• Possess at least two years of experience working with children; volunteers; cooperate with school personnel in a positive, professional manner; maintain a facility in accordance with state licensing regulations and YMCA requirements; relate well to children and their families.
• Training: meet and maintain training standards set by the state of Washington as a childcare professional, including completion of 30-hour childcare basics training and 10 additional yearly hours.
• Complete required DCYF trainings within the first 7 days of employment.
• Pass background check through DCYF and SSYMCA.
• Provide proof of current TB and MMR vaccination/immunization records upon hire, must be completed within the first 7 days of employment and prior to first day of working with children.
• Has the following documentation on file at the site, the YMCA Child Care Office, and digitally on the employee’s Paycom profile within expressed time limits after hire: First Aid, CPR, Blood Borne Pathogens training completed within 45 days of hire; New Employee Orientation completed within 45 days of hire; Food Handlers Card completed within the first 7 days of employment or have a current Food Handlers Card; Proof of Auto Insurance.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff/volunteers to provide a safe and healthy environment and a quality program.
• Maintains good YMCA relationships with children, parents/guardians, community and school staff.
• Supports the monitoring of and whereabouts of Y-care youth both inside and outside when playing in the open to meet safety standards and protocols.
• Maintains in implementing enrichment activities and appropriately involves staff in its delivery.
• Reads and becomes familiar with licensing regulations; ensures the program meets all state requirements; reports problems to the Program Director.
• Maintains accurate time and attendance records through Paycom.
• Attends required trainings and staff meetings.
• Supports reporting and documenting injuries, accidents, and incidents for Y-care youth and staff, and filing related reports.
• Dresses professionally and maintains personal appearance per YMCA policy.
• Maintains site in accordance with school district standards through custodial duties.
• Other duties as assigned.
