Position Summary

The Youth Development Coordinator plans, organizes, and implements programs and activities that empower members to make healthy decisions supporting academic success, healthy lifestyles, good character, and citizenship.

Days and Work Hours

Monday through Friday, part time.

Hourly Rate

$16.50/hr – $18.50/hr

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that facilitates youth development.
• Promote and stimulate program participation for preteens and teens.
• Provide appropriate guidance through supportive relations with members.
• Provide quality program activities that promote a sense of purpose and empowerment.
• Foster choices, team building, belonging and group identity.

Program Development

• Implement and administer programs for drop-in members and visitors.
• Track participation, document results, and monitor progress.
• Coordinate activities according to curricula supporting goals and member interests.
• Gather information and feedback on program needs.

Supervision

• Ensure a productive environment by participating in weekly staff meetings.
• Follow BGCMB safety policies and procedures covering member conduct, supervision, employee‑to‑member interactions, safety, child abuse, health, transportation, contingency, and incident reporting.

Additional Responsibilities

• Advocate for youth and the field of youth development, articulating BGCMB's value.
• Assist with club upkeep and appearance.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience working with children.
• Knowledge of youth development.
• Strong communication skills (oral, written, presentation).

• Ability to deal with the general public.
• Ability to plan and implement quality programs.
• Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
• Mandatory CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Valid State Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

Regularly sit, use hands, occasionally stand, lift up to 30 pounds. Requires good vision and ability to adjust focus.
