Job summary

YWCA Central Massachusetts is seeking a Youth Development Coordinator in Worcester, MA. The role focuses on coordinating high-quality youth programs, ensuring health and safety standards, and increasing participation across Youth Development components.

The coordinator reports to the Director of Youth Development and works full-time with evenings/weekends during the summer. Must be able to travel to program sites and engage diverse communities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist in Girls Choice Program during the school year.
  • Maintain engagement data per participant (intake, surveys, data collection).
  • Engage with parents/guardians to support participant success.
  • liaise with Worcester Public Schools (guidance counselors, etc.).
  • Travel to program sites; mileage paid; supplies provided.
  • Plan and implement Youth Development programming; direct service.
  • Oversee the Summer Youth Connect component during summer months.
  • Co-facilitate Girls Promoting Safety at Burncoat Middle School (Wednesdays 9:30–12:30).
  • Maintain participant records in data systems (attendance, demographics, outcomes).
  • Recruit youth for Summer Youth Connect as needed.

Job Summary

The Youth Development Coordinator coordinates functions to provide the highest quality of programming and customer service for participants, maintains health and safety standards to improve the quality of current programs, and increases participation in Youth Development components of the YWCA Central Massachusetts.

Schedule: 35 hours weekly – Program follows the public-school year calendar (September–June) and maintains the full-time schedule with evening hours during the summer.
Shift: Evenings/Weekends
Travel: None
Remote: No

Supervisory Responsibilities

Hire, train, supervise, and schedule part-time seasonal summer staff for Youth Connect.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist in Girls Choice Program during school year (September through June).
  • Create and maintain all required engagement related data per participant, including but not limited to intake, pre/post surveys, ongoing data collection.
  • Engage with parents/guardians to support participant success.
  • Serve as an active liaison with Worcester Public Schools by working closely with guidance counselors, school adjustment counselors, etc.
  • Travel to program sites and purchase supplies as needed; mileage is paid and resources will be provided.
  • Plan and implement Youth Development programming, including direct program service.
  • Oversee the YWCA component of the summer Youth Connect program during the summer months.
  • Assist and co‑facilitate Girls Promoting Safety program at Burncoat Middle School on Wednesdays 9:30AM to 12:30PM.
  • Maintain accurate records of program participants using ETO (data management system) and other methods as needed, including tracking attendance, demographics and outcomes as required.
  • Recruit youth for Summer Youth Connect as needed.
Program Schedule

Girls Choice Program – Evening programming until 6PM, 2 days per week and selected Saturdays.
YouthConnect Summer (July and August only) – Availability required Monday through Thursday, 2:00PM to 9:30PM.

Required Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to adjust hours worked based on scheduled programs; must be available weekdays from 2:00PM to 9:30PM during July and August only.
  • Completion of Youth Worker Training Institute within one year (preferred).
  • Ability to relate to people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to providing quality customer service and strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (required).
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma required.
  • Associate degree and/or youth development experience preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, such as youth and their families and communities of color.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to walk and stand for extended intervals.
